Thanks to slow over rate in the second one-day international played between India and Sri Lanka on Friday. The bowling side, India, did take 45 minutes more than scheduled. The extra time was taken during the final stage of the second innings of the game. These extra 45 minutes did cost Indian captain ban of two ODIs against Sri Lanka. However, it is also to be seen that the ban will come into effect immediately. In the very ODI, Dhoni hit a classic century and took India twoards a very impressive total but wan in vain. India scored 301 runs in 50 overs game and Sri Lanka chased it with the help of century by Dilshan.

Sri Lanka levelled the series by winning the second ODI. Still 3 ODI are to be played between the teams and Indian side will definitely affected by the absence of Dhoni. It is believed that Indian opener Gautam Gambhir would be named as a captain in absence of Dhoni. Nevertheless, no official comment on the development.

No 'Sahara' for Indian cricket team but Sahara

It would be written in rare cases in the history of Indian cricket. It is his 10th Grand Slam. He and his partner Luaks Dlouhy defeated Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. However, he lost the finals of doubles mix a couple of days ago. In the mix doubles he partnered with Kara black. On the other hand, Mahesh Bhupathi could not lift the title this too in a period of seven years.

For Paes it is his fifth men's doubles Grand Slam crown, 41st overall, and second with Dlouhy. It was also second title of the year for the seasoned Paes, who won French Open in June along with Dlouhy. Interestingly, Mahesh’s last victory came at the US Open only when he triumphed with Max Mirnyi in 2002. He had won the Australian Open mixed doubles title with Sania Mirza at the start of the season.

Yuki replaced Sanam in Davis Cup tie

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/SqdFsPz7MnI/AAAAAAAAANY/EW3nqpIFpoI/s400/Yuki+Bhambri.jpeg" border="0" align="left"alt="Yuki Bhambri"title="Yuki Bhambri"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379344906378228338" />

Yuki Bhambri has got place in Indian Davis Cup team for the World Group play off tie against South Africa. Yuki will join the team with Somdev Devvarman, Rohan Bopanna, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. Announcing Yuki’s name for the Davis Cup All India Tennis Association (AITA), it said that Yuki will replace Sanam Singh who is a reserve player for the tie against Chinese Taipei.

The matches will start from 18 and last till 20th of September. The coach of team will be Nanadan Bal while S.P. Misra has again been given the responsibility of non-playing captain. This will be crucial tie for India as there are chances of entering into the World Group after a gap of 11 years.

This chance also comes as a fruit to India since Australia didn’t come up to India for security reasons and India advances. After clearing first round by Jai Bhagwan, Nanao Singh also joined him for the second round. It may be recalled that top Indian boxers are already pushed out of the championship. Asian champion Suranjoy Singh (51kg), Olympian Akhil Kumar, Jitender Kumar (54kg) and Manoj Kumar (64kg) are the pugilists who lost their opening round bouts. But in the 48kg event, Nanao Singh did his best when he finish 21-6 win over Mamishzade Elvin of Azerbaijan in the first round.

Nanao dominated the game all the time. He was leading 7-2 at the close of the first round. The boxer managed to keep scoring points and stormed in the second round easily. But the road ahead will not be a bad of roses for him as he has to fight with Thai Pongprayoon Kaeo. Nanao could not give answers to the punches of Pongprayoon at the finals of the Asian Boxing Championships and had to contended with silver medal.

Vijender will not miss Khel Ratna ceremony

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 165px; height: 250px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/SpTNVZHUVMI/AAAAAAAAAMY/I6o9_P9wvK8/s400/Vijender+Singh.jpg" border="0"align="left" alt="Vijender Singh"title="Vijender Singh"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374146022762370242" />

Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh don't want to miss a life time opportunity that is Khel Ratan ceremony on 29 August at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. It may be recalled that Vijender was selected for Khel Ratan. In order to be present at the ceremony, Vijender has postponed his departure for the World Championships by a couple of days.

In fact, he had to depart for WC on August 27 with his nine member team but now he will fly on the night of August 29. Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) has allowed him to attend the ceremony along with team's assistant coach Jaidev Bisht who is to be awarded Dronacharya award the same day. Now Bisht will departure on the night of August 29.

In fact IBF had requested to held a separate award ceremony for these two but they didn't get any positive response from the sports ministry. However, Bhullar could not win the Brunei Open recently. As of now, he is at 203 world rankings. Among the other names from India, Jeev Milkha Singh tops the chart with 41 world golf rankings while Jyoti Randhawa captured 164th ranks.

Nevertheless, Bhullar is well ahead from US-based compatriot Arjun Atwal (310) and Delhi pro Shiv Kapur (422). Bhullar also continued to climb the Asian Tour Order of Merit ladder, occupying the seventh place, thanks to the USD 150,366 he earned from 10 events.

Thai stalwart Thongchai Jaidee leads the Order of Merit chart with USD 749,290 against his name, while Randhawa (246,745) is placed third in the list.

Multi-layer domestic competition system made China mighty

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 160px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/Sm_MvB5ZBTI/AAAAAAAAALI/w9aQrBvKFNM/s400/international+table+tennis.jpeg" alt="international table tennis"title="international table tennis" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363730789556618546" border="0" />

JAIPUR: Multi-layer domestic competition system made China a superpower in international table tennis map. It is reveled by China's cadet boys team coach Liu Heng. He was here for the 15th Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship. He also suggests India to adopt the system.

Liu Heng said that India is also an emerging nation in the world table tennis. He said that like China, India has also a number of talented paddlers. Suggesting the multi-level domestic competition system for India Liu Heng said that it would take some time after applying it in the country as China took 20 to 30 years for fruitful results.

China asserted their supremacy in the four-day Asian junior event in the pink city by clinching seven medals while the hosts finished without any. Heng is quite happy with the fact that China has started opening their training facilities to other countries, including India. As part of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games preparation, a team of Indian paddlers recently underwent a month-long training camp in China.

India knocks the door of Golf World Cup

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 160px; height: 112px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/SmqCMp6M6mI/AAAAAAAAAKw/kCrCpHkHsEo/s320/Golf+World+Cup.jpeg" border="0" alt="Golf World Cup"title="Golf World Cup"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362241460258007650" />

NEW DELHI: This year may be called golden year for Indian sports world. Amandeep Singh, Akshay Kumar and Manpreet Singh won their respective games in the semi-finals.

If they lose in the finals, three silver medals will be sure to come to India. Akshay beat Armenian Ognasen Azat, who retired in the third round of the 56kg category semifinal trailing 0:3, according to information received here.

Meanwhile in the 91kg category, Manpreet defeated Khomaster Artur of Germany 10:7. However, there is a possibility that Manpreet might not take part in the final after suffering a cut on his nose in his last four bout. He was elected unopposed for no candidate against him.

Its his fourth tenure as a President as he completed eight years on the post. At the MCA AGM in September 2008, the bye-laws of the association were amended to give the President the option to contest for a further four terms of two years each. Meanwhile, union minister for heavy industries Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday filed his nomination papers for the post of vice-president of MCA.

This move is believed to reduce the power of Pawar in cricket. This time Dubai is experiencing scorching heat and this make the players to be in indoor practice or do swimming or sweating in gym. Together after a much-deserved break, the players are sweating it out at The Sevens, a rugby stadium on the outskirts of Dubai, under the watchful gaze of coach Bob Houghton."The weather is quite hot, in fact hotter than Delhi I guess," said India and East Bengal midfielder Mehrajuddin Wadao.

Central defender Gourmangi Singh shared a similar opinion. "It's very hot here too, we can feel the real heat in the training," said the Churchill Brothers player. However, both agreed facilities were world class at the stadium which hosted the Rugby Sevens World Cup in March. "The facilities are really good. The training field, gym has its class," said Gourmangi. "The facilities are excellent and we are training hard," Mehraj said. The team, which landed in Dubai on Friday, will fly out to Barcelona on July 7 where they will train for a month in their bid to defend the Nehru Cup title.

Gayle lost 20% match fees

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/SkXK3MugbII/AAAAAAAAAJA/9gWznq7tto0/s400/Chirs+Gayle.jpg" border="0" alt="Chirs Gayle"title="Chirs Gayle"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351906781857606786" />
KINGSTON: The West Indian skipper Chirs Gayle fined 20% of his match fees for a slow over-rate in the first ODI against India on Friday. The series is likely to begin in September this year. WSB Chief Operating Officer Ivan Khodabakhsh confirmed the news but deny to give further details as the deal of finalising the franchisee is underway. Khodabakhsh told that India is among the eight franchisees that have selected by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) so far.

By July, the whole process would be over and the details of the selected franchisees will be revealed," said Khodabakhsh, also the AIBA Sports Director. He, however, refused to divulge the name of the corporate house that has obtained the Indian franchise. A total of 12 city-based franchisees four each from Asia, America and Europe and worth USD 10 million will fight it out in an inter-continental series that borrows heavily from professional boxing.

Each franchisee will have a team of at least 10 boxers with a maximum of three foreign imports in it. The franchisees will also get a pool of reserve boxers. The boxers' contracts, worth a minimum of USD 30,000 and a maximum of USD 300,000, will initially be of three years and they will get fixed salaries apart from bonus for every bout won. AIBA has so far shortlisted 100 pugilists for the event and the franchisees will take their pick during the this year's World Championships in Milan.

Saina books berth for semis', to take on Lan Lu today

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 250px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/SjykPIKkihI/AAAAAAAAAH4/Z9YaeaJ1Ijw/s400/saina.jpeg" border="0" alt="Saina"title="Saina"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349331037206120978" />
NEW DELHI: India's top shuttler Saina Nehwal booked berth for semi-final of Indonesian Open Super Series by defeating Hye Youn Hwang of Korea. She had to struggle for 45 minutes to down her rival. Sixth-seed Saina beat world number 18 Hwang 21-7, 13-21, 21-15 in a tough women's singles quarter-final. Saina will now take on Chinese Lan Lu, seventh-seed in the tournament, in the last-four level on Saturday. Lu beat second-seed Yihan Wang in the other quarter-final match.
Saina made short work of Hwang in the first game as the Korean huffed and puffed but could not read the Indian's game.

In the second game, however, the Korean bounced back and after leveling 7-7 opened up a lead of 7-10. Saina was made to do the catching up job as Hwang pocketed the game quite easily. The under water sport, scuba diving, is an adventurous game and famous in some of the coastline areas in the world. At present, there are 22 dive centres in India which is expecetd to touch upto 50 in the next five years.

"We believe the time has come for India to become a major force in the world of scuba diving," said Rohaan Sulaiman, President Bangalore Dive Club, which will be launched on June 14. Worldwide, the scuba diving industry, including the hospitality factor was estimated to be USD 47 billion, said Madhava Reddy, Founder Director of Planet Scuba India, a scuba diving inland centre, with a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) five star diving centre.

"Today the contribution of scuba diving may be minuscule, but in five years, with the plans under implementation, this adventure will be a significant contributor to sea-based tourism," he said. Information received also suggest that some prominent names were evincing keen interest in developing it. Lack of resources and infrastructure could have been the reasons why the sport had not picked up earlier in India despite having a vast coastline, huge population and an economy that was growing, Reddy said.

Provisional list of archers announced for World Youth meet

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/Si-jdd9XO7I/AAAAAAAAAFo/kChauGg-WnU/s400/World+Youth+archery+championship.JPG" border="0" alt="World Youth archery championship"title="World Youth archery championship"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345671009365605298" />
KOLKATA: The provisional list of archers is announced on Tuesday who will represent India in the World Youth archery championship to be held in Ogden, Utah July 12-09. This time the team has finished fifth position after defeating Japan 5-1. India were out of medal contention after losing to Pak and drawing with China in the first two matches.

It may be recalled that India won Azlan Shah Cup recently. But it could not keep the track on. In the last match which was played against Japan, Tushar Khandekar scored two goals (64th, 69th minutes) while Rajpal Singh (2nd minute), skipper Sandeep Singh (21st) and Prabhjot Singh (66th) sounded the board once each. For Japan, Sakamoto Hiroki (31st minute) was the lone scorer.
India loosened their grip in the second half as they went defensive, but Japan failed to take advantage. Latching on to S.V Sunil's pass, Tushar hit a reverse to make it 3-1.

China spoils India’s medal hope

MALAYSIA: India's hope to win another tournament after Azlan Shah Hockey cup was spoiled by China. The winner of Azlan Shah Cup, India, settle for a 2-2 draw against China here on Tuesday. Indian hockey team's poor performance continued in the match against China. As a result of it, the Indian team is out of the medal race.

India was defeated 2-3 by arch rival Pakistan in its first league match of the tournament. Experienced Indian captain Sandeep Singh (31st and 34th) converted two of India’s four penalty corners to put the team in the drivers seat. At this time the team was enjoying a lead of 2-0. But the Indian defence was not up to the mark and the team had to contented with a draw. China bounced back in the game with Lu Feng Hui (45th) and Yu Yang (59th) sounded the boards. After it Indian players tried hard to tickle the score board, but all in vain. Whereas, Chinese were successfully stop their rival's attack.

The Chinese, who spoilt India’s medal hopes in the 2006 Asian Games with a 3-2 victory, reduced the lead in the 45th minute when Hui found the net with an indirect variation off the team’s first penalty corner. Chinese forward Yang drove the final nail in India’s coffin in the 59th minute with a delicate touch from a free hit following a costly defensive lapse.

Crucial match between MI and Kings XI tomorrow

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 243px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/Sgf1vZRI9FI/AAAAAAAAACA/c8gnmDK7_VE/s400/kings+11+and+mumbai.jpeg" border="0"alt="Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab"title="Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334502478229075026" />CENTURION: The match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab is going to be held tomorrow. This is a crucial match for both the teams as each one wanted to win it to ease ones's path to semi-finals. In the points table both are looking similar. Mumbai Indians has managed 09 points while Kings XI has got 10 out of 10 matches each. However, as far as run rate is concerned, it is not very much different.

Sachin Tendulkar's men endured a three-match losing streak before finally managing a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday night. Punjab's team looking more balanced now after Australian pacer Brett Lee, who impressed with both bat and ball in the nail-biting win over Deccan Chargers in his first IPL match this season, joined the side. Among the batsmen, Mahela Jayawardene scored a fifty against Deccan and will have to play a key role in the middle order. Kumar Sangakkara and skipper Yuvraj Singh have been in good touch and it would be quite a task for the Mumbai bowlers to contain them if they get going.

Sreesanth becomes easy target for the opposition: Hayden

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 324px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bLBJyi6xnpc/SgPgWxkl5RI/AAAAAAAAABc/g9G6MC7o_TM/s400/Matthew-Hayden_1.jpg" border="0" alt="Matthew Hayden"title="Matthew Hayden"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333353065605358866" />
CENTURION: Australian crickets never leave a chance to comment on Indian cricketers. They say that it is a part of play. It was applied in Indian Premier League II too. Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden told reporters in a post match press conference that Sreesanth becomes an easy target for the opposition as he loses his cool in pressure match situations.

He went on saying and remarked that he was an overrated bowler and so he (Hayden) thought the bowler was a great target for them to go at. Sreesanth always loses his cool under pressure and he think that night was a good example of that. It may be recalled that Matthew Hayden smashed, on Thursday, Sreesanth all over the ground taking 32 runs in 19 deliveries off Sreesanth before getting out to him just short of the three figure mark. TV cameras showed Sreesanth lashing out at Hayden as the latter headed towards the dugout.

Daredevils' fifth win gives top position

DURBAN: Gautam Gambhir's first captaincy experience in Indian Premier League is proving fruitful to the team and him. In his captaincy, Delhi Daredevils not only posted a win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday. but also tops the tally in the chart. Now the points tally is changed completely except bottom placed Kolkata Knight Riders.

The number one position is captured by Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the second and third spot respectively. In the match between Daredevils and KKR, runs were flowing and most of the mistakes were done by KKR. Batting first, KKR scored a fighting total of 153 for three. Morne van Wayk batted well and manage to make 74 off 48 balls. In reply, Daredevils chased the target easily in the 19th over.

Thanks to the mistakes by fielders and poor bowling performance. Gautam Gambhir punished the bowlers and scored an unbeaten 71 runs. With David Warner (36), Gambhir gave Daredevils an explosive start that set up the win. Mumbai Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar thinks something different. He said that batsmen need to put up a good total if they are to win matches in the Indian Premier League. He suggested it to team-mates after lost a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In the match played on Sunday, Mumbai Indians managed to score 149 runs with half-centuries from Sanath Jayasuriya and Dwayne Bravo. Chasing a target of 149, Royal Challengers achieved the target with 11 balls to spare. Jacques Kallis (69) and Robin Uthappa (60) were only batsmen who bat in the side. In a post match ceremony, Tendulkar they would have scored more than 150. He stressed that a good total was needed badly by good batting performances.

Tendulkar also urged the team to lift themselves so that wins come regularly. He pointed out that one win and one lose, has become a trend for them. In this match Tendulkar himself could not perform well. He got out only 11 runs.
